Samsung Is the New Flip Phone Worth It?

black rotary phone

Samsung flip phones have taken a huge risk as nobody else has dared to take a design and make it bigger and better than it was before. Some people are all for bringing back the 90’s but others disagree and say it’s a step too far. So, the overall question is: did they make the right choice?

Cons

Zdnet.com a popular global tech news and advice site, explains “it takes a long-time to get use to the 2-screen interface”. Users have reported cracks appearing where the screen is folded that sometimes lead to deep cuts into the phone. People also say that dust seems to be attracted to the screen.

The Samsung Z Flip is 10 times the price of the Nokia 2720 Flip which retails on their own website as £89.99. The Z Flip is listed on Samsung’s own website as £1059. This is because the Z Flip 4 offers 512gb when the Nokia 2720 Flip gives you 512mb.

Pros

The battery life has been increased by 12% compared to last year’s module. There are also the reports on the Samsung site say they are very satisfied with the phone and how it works. Indiatvnews.com says “It is very compact which is very useful.  The speaker is clear and great to listen to movies or tv shows”.

Do you think there is a possibility that other brands start to make flip phones? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. I think it’s time will come as you can get a big screen without a big phone, but it’ll be a few years before they are reasonably priced and not prone to breaking. Then maybe a holographic phone would be nice

  2. Absolutely brilliant news article, would love to hear more of these
Amazing young journalists, like how they included many different reasons for pros and cons although sounds very exspensive

  3. Having worked selling phones back in the late 90’s it is interesting to hear how the rival of this Technology is being re-visited. Let’s hope it has been developed in this time as they did have their issues.

  4. Very interesting article! I would like to hear more articles about technology as this is very helpful. Keep it up 🙂

  5. Personally I wouldn’t want to have a flip phone as it would be to big the fit in my pocket and the thought of having the screens touching each other and if it had a piece of grit inside it 😧.

  6. An interesting article, I had a ‘flip phone’ years ago and snapped it! Hopefully the new ones are a bit more sturdy!

  7. I have a Samsung and they are great for battery. This one I’m sure is great because it would be easier to travel with it.

  8. Cool gimmick, but I don’t think the classic “rectangle touchscreen” design can be beat. That said, I’d definitely buy an old rotary phone that lets me read Twitter and play Pokemon Go…. Might be a bit cumbersome to carry around though.

Next step – maybe some kind of brain implant?? Future!
