About my journey:

I am an accountant with over a decade of professional experience working with corporate. But this is not what makes me happy. I remember the days when I was just about five years old, and my mom used to wake me and my sister up for an early morning swimming lesson. I remember jumping into the pool with lights not yet on at 6am sharp every morning including in the winters. This habit took me a long way. I did national level and sea water swimming in India and many other competitive swims. After 15 years of swimming, I wanted to change and move to another sport and have dabbled with marathon runs and cycling. I have been practicing breathing techniques for all my sports activities. I remember when I was first pregnant, I did ujjayi breathing at the labor table which made the labor smooth, and I used all my breathing techniques to deliver comfortably. After two deliveries, I did kickboxing and was Mumbai Champion in 2017. This was when my children were 7 and 5 years old. I have had several injuries due to the various sports I have been involved in but I have then used yoga to bring myself back. From practicing Yoga as a healing method to making Yoga a part of my life, I have really made Yoga and its practice ‘a way of life’. I believe, we can align our body, mind and soul with regular practice of breathing and Yoga. I always practice breathing in my classes before beginning the asanas. I am a certified Yoga practitioner and I practice and teach Hath Yoga. I completed 400 hours of Teachers Training with Satyananda Saraswati Ashram and 28 Hours with Rainbow Yoga London. Hath yoga is a more traditional form of yoga healing our body with its age old proven methods. My husband and kids have been actively involved in practicing yoga with me and improving their health. As they say “Charity begins at home” and I have taken that literally! I am proud to say I recently won an award for community spirit which is the IIW She Inspires award 2023
MP Bob Blackman presenting the IIW award for Community Spirit Winner category on 15th March 2023
