East Coast Cluster

A collaboration between Zero Carbon Humber, Net Zero Teesside and Northern Endurance Partnership

By its strength in diversity, the East Coast Cluster stands ready to remove 50% of the UK’s industrial cluster CO2 emissions

The UK needs to use every possible technology to green our economy. It must decarbonise industry to achieve its target of net zero emissions by 2050. And nearly half of all carbon emissions from UK industrial cluster CO2 emissions come from Britain’s historic engine room: the Humber and Teesside.

Explore the East Coast Cluster.

50%

of total emissions from all UK industrial clusters will be transported and stored

70%

of the UK’s hydrogen target for 2030 fulfilled by the creation of low carbon hydrogen projects

Thousands

of existing jobs protected across the Teesside and Humber in addition to new STEM-based jobs and underpinning new low carbon industries in the north of England

Millions

of tonnes of negative emissions will be created by world-leading projects, removing carbon from the atmosphere and supporting hard-to-decarbonise industries

Creating

international momentum towards net zero and tackling climate change

There is an unparalleled and diverse mix of low carbon projects that are being taken forward in the East Coast Cluster, including industrial carbon capture, low carbon hydrogen production, negative emissions power, and power with carbon capture.

All these technologies are essential for the UK to meet its net zero targets.
