The annual ‘Trinity Golf Day’ took place on Thursday 16 June, 2022 at the incredibly welcoming and friendly Robin Hood Golf Club in Solihull. Alumni travelled from across the country to attend and enjoy 18 holes of friendly competition, and more importantly, good company on the challenging fairways and greens of the course.

Gloriously warm weather saw all the players reaching for the sun cream and, no doubt some, wondering whether it may be appropriate to follow their ball into the numerous water hazards on the course to cool down.

In terms of the scores, Euan Duff (1969) ran out the over-all winner by one point (the competition uses the Stableford scoring format to help level the playing field a little) from last year’s champion, Robert Fergusson (1973). Euan was delighted to win the Sandy Bradbrook Trophy for the second time:

I was delighted to win the Sandy Bradbook Trophy on the excellent Robin Hood Golf Club course. I look forward to defending it at Royal Worlington next year, when it would be wonderful to see an increased field – perhaps with some of lesser years and lower handicaps! The biennial visit to Royal Worlington, followed by dinner in College, is always a very special occasion and I thoroughly commend it to the many golfing members of college who have yet to take part.”

In addition to the overall competition players also competed in ‘nearest the pin’ and ‘longest drive’ challenges, won by Charles Garraway (1968) and Sandy Bradbrook (1964) respectively.

Trinity’s Alumni Relations Manager, Phil Pass, joined the group and was delighted to see the camaraderie on show:

With alumni travelling from all over the country, it was wonderful to see old friendships (or should that be rivalries) being picked up 12-months on from the last Golf Day. It was also lovely to welcome some new players this year – Golf Day is a great way to spend a day, and I do hope that we can welcome even more alumni in 2023!”
