The City has so much to offer, so why does it not welcome visitors?

The City of London Corporation published a report last month setting out its vision of how, after the onslaught of the pandemic, it was going to revive the Square Mile. It was notable for the grating corporate speak employed (the report’s subtitle: Creating the world’s most inclusive, innovative and sustainable business ecosystem), for the incomprehensibility of some aims (“curate thriving innovation ecosystems in strategic sectors”) and, more than anything else, for the peculiarity of its plans to boost the appeal of the City as a leisure destination.
