Nicola Mendelsohn has been promoted to handle Meta Platforms’ relationships with the world’s biggest advertisers as the social media giant’s chief business officer steps down.

The British executive will take charge of the Facebook and Instagram owner’s international partnerships, and an engineering unit that builds features for clients, as she leads efforts to bolster its vast online adverts operation.

Mendelsohn, 51, is based in New York as head of Meta’s global business group. She joined the company almost a decade ago to lead its European arm.

Marne Levine, Meta’s chief business officer, will depart this summer. Her role will be split between Mendelsohn and Justin Osofsky, 45, Meta’s head of online sales, operations and partnerships, who is tasked with attracting more small and medium-sized businesses
