The coronavirus pandemic is having an adverse affect on many people's mental health, according to psychologist Dr Shirin Shams, who has already noticed an “increase of stress and anxiety around the matter”.

She said those with pre-existing conditions were particularly vulnerable in the current climate and warned that families with young children also faced added strain.
