The Portaferry Gala 10 Mile Road Race, including a 2 x 5 mile relay race for teams of 2 runners, takes place on Tuesday 18th July 2023 in the picturesque surroundings of Portaferry, County Down on the Ards Peninsula. It is one of the feature events in Portaferry Gala Week which runs from 15th to 21st July 2023. It offers a challenging but fast course for recreational and elite runners alike.
The race starts at the Sports Centre, Cloughy Road, Portaferry, BT22 1ND and finishes in the town square.
Important Update. The main hall at the Sports Centre is out of use at present so Registration (Number/Chip collection) will now take place in St Columba's College Gym beside the Portaferry Sports Centre from 5:00pm on race day - Tuesday 18th July. Toilets and changing facilities will still be available in the Sports Centre.
Online entries only. No entries on the day.
Portaferry Mugs will be given to the first 100 athletes to register.
All finishers will receive a medal.
Post race refreshments will be provided in St Columba's College Gym after the race.
For the Relay event transport will be provided to and from the Relay changeover point and the bus will leave from the lay-by on the Ballyphilip Road close to the Sports Centre at 7:20pm.
Limited car parking is available at the Sports Centre but additional parking will be provided nearby, please follow the direction of the stewards to the additional parking.
There are prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Male & Female and Male & Female Veterans prizes from age category Over 35 to Over 65. Relay Team prizes, prizes for local competitors and the oldest male & female competitors.
