About this scheme

The Phase 2 Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund was launched on behalf of The Department for Security and Net Zero (formerly the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy) in July 2021 for all eligible public sector bodies and in September 2021 for schools and academies.

The scheme made available £15m of grant funding and ringfenced £3.5m for schools and academies. This funding was made available for public sector organisations to engage the specialist and expert advice and skills required to put in place or improve an existing heat decarbonisation plan.

This ensured organisations had a robust heat decarbonisation plan to take the next steps in decarbonising. This included developing detailed project proposals and the means for applying for future grant funding for capital decarbonisation measures. We’re proud that the Phase 2 Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund has enabled organisations to be better prepared for future decarbonisation opportunities.

The scheme ran until 31 March 2022 and grant funding was distributed to 218 projects. For more information on successful grant recipients of this scheme, visit Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (formerly the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy).
