Team Leader Specialist Mechanical Workshop, Mechanical Engineer. 

General Information:
 Andrea has worked in engineering since 1980, starting her career in the Aerospace Industry, specialising in mechanical engineering and project management working in the design and development of weapon and inertial guidance systems for the Armed Forces. Following over twenty years in the defence industry, Andrea was self employed carrying out engineering consultancy for companies through the South West until joining the Trust in 2009. 

Andrea is a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and is also a Fellow of the Institution. 

Andrea is now Team Leader of the Specialist Mechanical Workshop based within the Healthcare, Science & Technology Department. 

Qualifications:

• Chartered Engineer/Fellow C.Eng., F.I.MechE
• B Eng (Hons) – Mechanical Engineering
• HNC – Control systems
• ONC – Mechanical Engineering
• Apprenticeship – Engineering Technician, British Aerospace/Sperry Gyroscope 

Specific areas of expertise: 

• Design, development of projects and manufacture of bespoke devices used in the rehabilitation, treatment and diagnosis of patients. 
• Services and repairs surgical instruments and medical equipment for clinical departments. 
• CAD package user (AutoDesk Inventor 2013). 
• Project management, co-ordinator and implementer of wide range of technical activities associated with the use, management and development of medical technologies. 
• Adopter of new advances in technology, design and production as evolves. 
• Knowledge of wide range of mechanical engineering processes and subcontract services. 
• Advisor on commercially available solutions and feasibility studies.
