Together against assaults: Operation Hampshire campaign

Together against assaults Twitter header

Op Hampshire has been rolled out to all forces across the country and many are starting to use the app to improve reporting.

It's important that officers and staff have a clearer understanding of Operation Hampshire, the impact of assaults and why reporting is so important. It will need a change of culture, and a togetherness mentality to improve the way assaults are understood, talked about and reported, to make it clear that you are not on your own, Operation Hampshire is here for you and together is stronger.

We have developed this campaign to be used by forces to support the work they are doing around Operation Hampshire locally.

The film

Rav Wilding TV presenter

The main concept centres around a short film, voiced over by Rav Wilding, TV presenter and former police officer, wrapped around with a full communications package and downloadable assets which you can find on this page.

How to use

Please use this film on your intranet, in briefings and team meetings.

If the film is being shown at a meeting or briefing, please encourage conversations to identify any barriers to reporting and encourage individuals to see they are not alone.

Signposting should be to your local Op Hampshire SPOC and or Op Hampshire intranet page and if your force is using the Op Hampshire App please signpost accordingly to encourage reporting.

Share the details of this film in internal news articles and newsletters to enable officers and staff to watch in their own time.

Please signpost to Oscar Kilo for more information on what we do nationally to support the wellbeing of officers and staff.

If you can't find what you need on this page or have any questions about the campaign please get in touch.

Intranet copy

As police officers and police staff we face confrontation and aggression on a regular basis, particularly if we are serving in front line roles but being physically assaulted is not something we should accept as 'part of the job'.

Oscar Kilo, the National Police Wellbeing Service, has developed this campaign to improve the way assaults are understood, talked about and reported. Remember, you are not on your own, Operation Hampshire is here for you and together is stronger.

Please add some internal narrative about what you are doing locally to support officers and staff who have been assaulted at work.

We recommend you show the film to your officers and staff in briefings and team meetings, giving individuals time to watch through without distraction.

The following narrative will help your briefing

We face confrontation and aggression on a regular basis, particularly if we are serving in front line roles, but being physically assaulted is not something we should accept as part of the job.

Oscar Kilo, the National Police Wellbeing Service, have developed this short film which we hope will make you think about assaults, improve the way assaults are understood, talked about and reported. Remember, you are not on your own, Operation Hampshire is here for you and together is stronger.

(Please add talk about local support and if your force is using the Operation Hampshire App this is a great time to remind officers and staff about it)
