School Improvement Leader (Disadvantaged and SEND)

Do you want a challenging and rewarding career with real opportunities to change the lives of people in Northumberland, if you are dynamic, dedicated and enthusiastic then we want to hear from you.

Who is NCC?

World renowned as a visitor destination, Northumberland is also the ideal location to strike a perfect work/life balance. What better way of enjoying the picturesque scenery and stunning coastline than to sample it on an everyday basis?
Our Vision is: “To make Northumberland a county which you regard as a great place to live, and in which you can access the things you enjoy, whilst having the opportunity to learn and thrive”

Northumberland is a large and varied county containing schools of all types and sizes. We are committed to creating a system of support for all schools which will enable every child to attend a school which is at least good.

Northumberland County Council is therefore excited to announce further growth to its successful School Improvement Services. There are two posts available for School Improvement Leaders within the central team. The posts will serve all school phases and sectors in Northumberland:

- The portfolio for post 1 will include improving outcomes for disadvantaged learners.
- The portfolio for post 2 will include support and development within the SEND arena.
The successful candidates will also cover a range of generic school improvement functions.

* Please indicate in your application, whether you are interested in Post 1, Post 2 or if you would like to be considered for both.

Candidates are expected to have experience of a broad range of leadership within schools and a sharp understanding of all areas of practice in improving outcomes within the portfolio areas mentioned. They will have extensive experience supporting a track record of rapid and sustained improvement at their own school and possibly across other schools. Candidates will have an in-depth knowledge of Ofsted inspection (and may have acted as an Ofsted inspector). They will be able to demonstrate the ability to think and work quickly under pressure. Secondments may be considered from the very best candidates.

Are you ready to join a great team, with a clear vision, ready to make a real difference?
Do you believe you have the desire and ability to play a key role in school improvement across Northumberland?
