About this event

Join us LIVE from Antarctica to watch University of Cambridge experts talk about what it’s like to do marine biology in freezing seas and why this research is so vital in tackling climate change.

Speaking from the Rothera Research Station are Wolfson College Fellows:

Professor Melody Clark
Project Leader at the British Antarctic Survey, molecular biologist explaining how cells of animals work in the coldest oceans on earth and how they respond to climate change.

Professor Lloyd Peck
Science Leader and Antarctic diver at the British Antarctic Survey, interests in polar gigantism, why some Antarctic snails take 10 years to hatch out from eggs and fish with antifreeze.

Speaking from Cambridge is Professor Eric Miska, Head of the Department of Biochemistry, looking at the links between genome evolution and rapid adaptation to extremes.

They’ll be sharing photos and videos from the ice and answering your questions on what it’s like to live and work in such an extreme environment.

Your host is veteran journalist and former British Antarctic Survey communications manager, Paul Seagrove.
