The national Guardian “Speaking up, listening up abd being heard” Jayne Chidgey-Clark sharing her experiences of when FTSU works well. Shared with us her “powerful why”- to be part of the solution to make a difference Culture is not rocket science but it is not an easy task either. There are a number of very real constraints that hinder the path to safety and open culture. There is a true imperative to get culture right, not only due to regulation requirements but, and more importantly, because it is the right thing to do, by the patient and staff alike! ⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️The hard questions: Are you sure your teams know who to go to and how to speak up?! What are you doing on a compassionate leadership space? How about civility and EDI? These are all key issues that need addressing proactively and we must be the embasadours of cultural change that drive it! Dr Sarah Frankton you would have loved to hear that Jayne Chidgey-Clark referred to quality improvement as the close relative to safety culture! Can’t wait for our QIIC to launch Cromwell Hospital

Dr Jayne Chidgey-Clark is looking forward to speaking at the Independent Healthcare Providers Network (IHPN) next week on the subject of Speaking Up, Listening Up and Being Heard #FTSU
One week to go until IHPN’s 5th Annual Patient Safety Conference! The theme for this year's conference is “Culture of Caring: Listening, Leading and Learning”. It will be a fantastic opportunity for senior clinical leaders, clinical and governance leads and patient safety specialists in the independent sector to come together and learn more about how we create a culture of caring that supports safe care. We have some amazing speakers lined up for the day, including: - Dr Rosie Benneyworth, Chief Executive of HSSIB, who will share the recent changes at HSSIB and how the move to a safety management system approach can improve our listening and learning from incidents. - Dr Henrietta Hughes OBE, Patient Safety Commissioner for England, who will be speaking about the Patient Safety Commissioners strategy, which was launched in February this year - ‘Putting Patients First’. We will also hear her thoughts on what really makes the difference in creating the right culture. - Ian Trenholm, Chief Executive of CQC, who will explain how the new Single Assessment Framework, alongside assessment of Integrated Care Systems can support improvements in a safety culture. Thank you to the Care Quality Commission for partnering with us for this event, and to Bevan Brittan LLP for their sponsorship and ongoing support.

We welcome the investigation by Health Services Safety Investigations Body (HSSIB) into the involvement of temporary workers in patient safety investigations. This report underlines why it is so important that everyone – no matter what their contract terms – can speak up and their concerns and suggestions are heard and acted upon. https://lnkd.in/ew2jhJvr #BreakingFTSUbarriers #FTSU
