Bringing the life science and drug discovery communities together to learn, share, connect, innovate and collaborate.
About us
The European Laboratory Research and Innovation Group UK (ELRIG) is a not for profit company whose purpose is to bring the life science and drug discovery communities together to learn, share, connect, innovate and collaborate. We achieve this through the provision of world class conferences, networking events, webinars and digital content. Our values are to always ensure the highest quality of content and that content will be made readily accessible to all, and that we will always be an inclusive organisation, serving a diverse scientific community. In addition, ELRIG will always be a volunteer led organisation, run by the life sciences community, for the life sciences community, on a not for profit basis. ELRIG has evolved from the Laboratory Robotics Interest Groups set up in North America in the early 2000’s, and has become an independent commercial enterprise, with no major benefactors nor significant funding from a single source. Instead ELRIG depends on key partners to provide rent-free venues and the vendor community to purchase sponsorship opportunities at its events. ELRIG is unique in that it considers vendors to be very much part of the life science community and incorporates presentations on their innovations into its podium programming. Led by a board of volunteers, and run by a small team of employees, ELRIG successfully hosts at least 5 conferences and 5 networking events per year, which bring together world class speakers, that present the latest research and innovation from their laboratories. Events vary in size from 40 attendees at our tier 2 events (primarily networking or webinars), to 300 plus attendees at our tier 1 events (primarily 1 to 2 day conferences), to greater than 1500 attendees at our flag ship Drug Discovery meeting. All these events are run as free-to-attend, with speaker expenses and delegate subsistence paid for by ELRIG, which is only possible due to the support of its sponsors.

Hormones like GLP1 play a crucial role in signaling fullness and extending its duration could impact weight regulation. In our latest #DrugDiscoveryDialogues series, we chatted to Prof Giles Yeo ahead of his talk at our Pint of Science event in Cambridge to shed light on how our genetics influence body weight and the potential of drugs in weight management. Join us on 11th June at ACHEMA 2024 for our 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲-𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱 Drug Discovery Forum in Germany: ENHANCING THE QUALITY OF DATA IN CHEMICAL BIOLOGY AND TRANSLATIONAL SCIENCE Register here https://lnkd.in/eAJCVTTg The value and reliability of scientific data in biology and translational science is determined by the quality of chemical tools and their appropriate use. Well-characterised, selective small molecules are essential for understanding the cellular functions of proteins and validating them as drug targets. Conversely, the use of poorly evaluated molecules or the biased interpretation of data generated with promiscuous substances leads to pollution of the literature with unsubstantiated claims. The ELRIG Drug Discovery in Germany forum will focus on data quality generated with small molecules and present best practices and guidelines for the use, availability and characterisation of these tools using state-of-the-art methods. We will highlight examples with both traditional inhibitors and novel chemical modalities, such as PROTACs. The meeting will bring together approaches from industry and academia, working together to improve the reproducibility and robustness of scientific data, thereby advancing target validation and our understanding of target biology. #ACHEMA24 #ELRIG
