A four-member delegation from the Ghana Secretariat of the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) and the Malaria Oversight Committee completed a three-day monitoring visit to selected operational sites of the AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Malaria Control Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) intervention today. The team comprised Kenneth Yeboah (Oversight Officer), Catherine Bentum-Williams (Ethics Officer & The Global Fund PSEAH Focal Person in Ghana), Dr Felicia Owusu-Antwi (World Health Organization Ghana Office & Committee Member), and Samuel Dodoo (Committee Member). Between May 8 and 10, they visited the Kassena Nankana West, Builsa North, and Builsa South districts in the Upper East region to monitor the implementation of the AGAMal 2024 IRS campaign. During the visit, the team observed the IRS implementation process, engaged with community leaders, held discussions with beneficiaries and operators, and gathered feedback on the intervention's impact and challenges. They witnessed firsthand the efforts of the spray teams, the community mobilisation activities, and the measures taken to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the spraying operations. The Global Fund has been supporting Ghana's efforts to combat malaria through the AGAMal IRS intervention, which has significantly contributed to the reduction of malaria cases in operational areas. #2024irs #smallactionsbigimpactformalariaelimination #ZeroMalariaStartsWithMe Ghana Health Service The Global Fund National Malaria Elimination Programme - NMEP Ghana AngloGold Ashanti Ghana

This year's Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) campaign continues to gain significant traction across communities. By just Week 3, our teams have already entered 587 communities across 16 districts in 3 regions, spraying 44,735 structures with 427,791 rooms across 67,091 households. This has provided protection for 402,579 people. Now, in Week 5, we are working tirelessly to extend coverage to even more areas. If we could not reach you during our first visit to your community, call 0203298136 to schedule for spraying. Some operators will remain in your community to conduct mop-up spraying. For communities that have not yet been reached, please be assured you are included in our plans. Stay tuned for updates on when we will visit your area. Like, comment, and share to show your support. #smallactionsbigimpactformalariaelimination #ZeroMalariaStartsWithMe #2024irs Ghana Health Service National Malaria Elimination Programme - NMEP Ghana The Global Fund AngloGold Ashanti Ghana

In a collaborative effort between Ghana's University of Cape Coast (UCC) and Germany's Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, an 8-day Advanced Workshop on Vector Biology and Control took place in UCC between 15th and 24th April. As part of a partnership with the University of Cape Coast, which began in 2023, AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Malaria Control (AGAMal) hosted all participating students on this year's Course in Obuasi on April 22nd. Beginning with a field trip to see our teams in action, our participants, led by Dr. Andreas Kudom, experienced every step of Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS), including household preparations, operational safety and spraying. Then, our team of experts led the classroom and entomology laboratory sessions covering planning vector control interventions, community mobilisation tactics, entomological surveillance, evaluating impact, and driving behaviour change for sustainability. As the world continues battling vector-borne diseases like malaria, equipping the next generation with multi-disciplinary skills is paramount. This study partnership represents a potent intersection of academia and industry, merging theoretical knowledge with practical expertise from AGAMal's frontline teams. Building the next generation's skills is key to globalising more effective public health strategies, and we at AGAMal are proud to equip future leaders with these skills. #SmallActionsBigImpact #ZeroMalariaStartsWithMe #UniversityofChoice #LMU #UCC #VectorControl #vectorbiology AngloGold Ashanti Ghana Ghana Health Service National Malaria Elimination Programme - NMEP Ghana The Global Fund
