Story

In February 2024 Mark (Garnish) and Warwick (Brown) are travelling to New Zealand to do the Tour Aotearoa - billed on their website as

one of the world’s great bikepacking trips: stretching 3,000 km from Cape Reinga to Bluff it follows a combination of cycle trails, tracks, paths and lanes connected by the most enjoyable country roads available.

In all, we will be cycling 3000km (2000 miles) and climbing about 45,000m.

The brevet event starts at 7:00 am local time on Sunday 18th February and whilst it is not a race - we have to finish in 30 days as we have flights to catch. We will carry satellite trackers so you know where we are and locator beacons in case something goes wrong!

We also have to carry everything we need (apart from food and water) and will be staying in a mixture of motels, cabins, and wild camping (although I hope not too much of that). In most cases, we will not know where we are going to stay until a couple of days before we arrive.

This is a trip of a lifetime for us and we will be paying 100% of the costs but want to use the opportunity to raise much-needed funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital. Knowing that we have so much support will keep us going when the course gets tough which it absolutely will as the days go by.

Please help us to raise as much money as possible for this great cause.
