Story
On 25th October 2013 I fell into a wall playing 5 a side indoors, knocking me out. The impact with the wall and then floor fractured my skull. In hospital I suffered a bleed on the brain, was placed in an induced coma for 6 days and had part of my skull removed. I then had a titanium plate fitted to my skull.
My parents were told I may lose the use of his left side, wake up a different person and then to prepare for the worst. With the care and consultation of James Cook Hospital, I made a recovery that my consultant described as a miracle. After being discharged from the hospital I have been motivated to raise money for the hospital wards that treat me (Intensive Care and Neuro Wards).
I’ve organised 4 anniversary events in the 10 years since. In that time I have also then been involved in 5 others fundraisers at local schools, gyms and with friends too. Without the hospitals care between October- December 2013 I would never have been able to organise or participate in any of those 9 events.
On the actual anniversary I will complete a 59km bike challenge in the hospital (1km per day I was there). Then in the 9 days following , I am going to complete all the 9 events again. I will never be able to thank or repay the hospital for saving my life 10 years ago but I want to raise some money to help them save another person’s life like mine.
