The Luton & Dunstable Hospital are well underway with a massive redevelopment programme.

The Critical Care Team is one of the specialties that is to benefit from this re-organisation that would enable them to enhance the features of their newly built department facilities. Alongside the Charity Team they are raising funds to enhance the new ITU and HDU – now known as Critical Care – for their patients, visitors and staff.

Creating new spaces that would improve the patient and visitor experience and in so also supporting patient care and staff wellbeing.

The team are not only moving to a brand new space with innovative new equipment, a larger space to work in, and a fresh new look, but they will also receive a brand new balcony garden.

The Charity are supporting in making this brand new area warm, comfortable, and as less clinical as we can. We are adding in specialized lighting, seating, sleeper beds for patients family members, planting and so much more!

Critical care settings are always very stressful with the right environment, family close by and fresh air for the patients this will provide a positive distraction & promote their recovery.

The Critical Care Team are so dedicated to fundraising they have run several successful events.

The first was a cake stall and the second an Easter Craft Stall with a raffle, both raising over £1,000 each, a charity football match raising just under £3,000, a beat the goalie game at Harpenden Common raising £350 and Georgia and Yvonne swam in The Great North Swim and have raised over £1,800 so far. Ruth ran a marathon and raised over £500.

Charmaine Norrish Deputy fundraising Manager also cut off her hair raising funds for the garden and raised £200 in donations to the page.

We have had bike rides and a soon to be Bingo night at Mecca Bingo!

So far we have raised £27,334 of our £131,901 target, help us hit this total!
