Centre for the Elderly-Kargi, Kenya

Every elderly person in our communities deserves good care, support and dignity so that they can enjoy the final years of their life. I hope we can work together to make this dream a reality for the elderly in my rural village of Kargi in Kenya

Story

This campaign has been inspired by my recent visit to my rural village in Kargi, Marsabit County Kenya in December 2022. With support of many friends we managed to raise some funds to buy and distribute some food for the elderly Kargi village.

I am a Nurse for the elderly here in the UK and having assessed the difficult situation of the elderly people in Kargi I thought they deserve better and we can all do something together to give them dignified care in their final years of their lives.

They currently live in little huts mostly by themselves in isolation as other family members go out the find what they can to feed them and the rest of the family.

About the charity

The organisation was formed to support the community in Kargi as well as the surrounding regions of Marsabit county in northern Kenya. The support is initiated through sponsorship for children through education and community projects to alleviate poverty such as a bakery set up by a women's group; provision of clean water and health care services.
