HWHCT team winning Large Apprenticeship Employer of the Year

Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust cemented its status as a leading employer,Sheri Moule Ally Middleton and Liz Maddams with apprenticeship trophy winning the ‘Large Apprenticeship Employer of the Year’ award at the 2022 Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards last month.

The award recognises the Trust’s ongoing commitment to developing apprentices across a range of clinical and non-clinical roles including physical and mental health nursing, therapists, business administration, customer service, finance and leadership.  It supports over 170 apprentices and works closely with local universities to support new placements and the ongoing development of existing staff.

Elaine Clough, Director of People and Organisational Development said: “One of our People Strategy commitments is to develop and invest our people; equipping them with the skills, knowledge and experience to succeed in their career. Whether you are just starting out in the NHS, want to diversify your career path or wish to take that next step-up in your development– we’re here to facilitate that journey”

Jameelah who is currently completing the Registered Nurse Apprenticeship said, ‘This is my second apprenticeship with this Trust, and I just want to say how amazing it is going and how supportive the team are. I am so grateful to be given this apprenticeship opportunity as without it I feel I would not have progressed as much as I have. I have benefited from the apprenticeship as I am now qualified as an RNA and at the end of this course will be a qualified mental health nurse.”

The Trust has a history of success with its apprenticeship programmes, being named the Worcestershire Group Training Association’s (HWGTA) Employer of the Year last year. They also saw four apprentices shortlisted in the 2021 Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards, one of whom went on to be named Apprentice of the Year.
