Overview
The Department for Education (DfE) is funding a 3-year programme to improve pupil behaviour.
The programme pairs schools and multi-academy trusts (MATs) with exemplary behaviour practices, called lead schools or lead MATs, with partner schools or MATs that want and need to improve pupil behaviour. It is flexible, with an offer of support tailored to partner schools’ circumstances.
The behaviour hubs programme is open to primary and secondary schools, alternative provision schools and special schools across England that are rated ‘good’, ‘requires improvement’ or ‘inadequate’ by Ofsted.
MATs with at least one school that meets this Ofsted rating criteria may also apply.

The programme is based on creating a culture: how school leaders can optimise behaviour. Good behaviour, routines and structures in school support all pupils’ engagement in education, and their mental health and wellbeing. Schools will work together to apply these principles to their individual context.
On completion of the programme, schools and MATs will receive a grant of up to £9,000, with the amount of funding proportionate to the time commitment of each stream.

Education Development Trust is the delivery centre for behaviour hubs and has been appointed to:
- manage the delivery of the programme
- provide logistical and administrative support, including grant management, organising training, and collecting and monitoring information
- be the central point of contact for lead schools, partner schools and the general public
