THE WALK WITH LITTLE AMAL

Little Amal is the 3.5m puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee child at the heart of The Walk, based on the character of the same name in Good Chance’s The Jungle. She has become a global symbol of courage, hope and human rights. In 2021 she travelled through more than 65 towns in 9 countries over 8,000km, meeting over 100,000 people in the streets and millions more online.

Good Chance co-produced The Walk 2021. Since 2022 Little Amal continues her journey produced by The Walk Productions Ltd.

A little girl on a big journey.

In 2021, from the Syria-Turkey border all the way to the UK, The Walk brought together celebrated artists, major cultural institutions, community groups and humanitarian organisations, creating one of the most innovative and adventurous public artworks ever attempted. She travelled a remarkable 8,000km in total, celebrating the power of welcome, art and shared humanity wherever she went.

Inspired by the character of Amal from The Jungle, Little Amal - a 3.5 metre-tall puppet - represents tens of thousands of displaced children who, just like her, have fled war and persecution and urgently need our support to get an education and rebuild their lives.

Hope too big to ignore.

Half of all refugees are children. Half of all school age refugee children have lost their opportunity of a formal education.

Today, millions of displaced children, each with their own story, are urgently in need of support.

Together with Choose Love, The Amal Fund has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for children who have fled war and persecution. If you’d like to chip in and help displaced children get the education and support they deserve, you can donate below.

Amal’s journey is a celebration of migration and cultural diversity that tells the story of the contributions made by refugees and immigrants. It represents the refugee story as one of potential, success, respect, hospitality and kindness.

Little Amal is inspired by a character in the play The Jungle by Joe Murphy and Joe Robertson.
