About this event

This webinar has been organised by the South East Academic Health Science Networks (KSS, Wessex and Oxford) and is open to all Multi-Disciplinary Health Care Professionals / clinicians and programme managers working within these regions with an interest or role in lipid management.

The webinar is the first in a series of Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) education sessions that will be delivered across the South East region throughout 2022/23. The inaugural event will provide an overview of the AHSN Network national lipids optimisation programme, which aims to work closely with NHS Trusts and primary & secondary care services to improve the management of cholesterol, increase the detection of those with Familial Hypercholesterolaemia and optimise the use of all medicines for patients on the cholesterol management pathway. We will share an introduction to the revised lipid management pathway and take a closer look at common clinical scenarios in primary and secondary care when utilising the lipid management pathway with some time dedicated to local case studies.

Webinar objectives:

  • Highlighting the importance of optimal lipid management as part of the overall approach to the prevention and management of CVD.
  • Hear from clinical practitioners on their experiences in managing patients using the revised lipid management pathway.
  • Provide you with an opportunity to reflect on these experiences and how you could embed these practices locally.

The speakers include:

  • Dr Phil Jennings, Chief Executive at the Innovation Agency (AHSN for the North West Coast).
  • Dr Hannah Morgan, SE Region Cardiac Network, Clinical lead for CVD Prevention and Cardiac Rehabilitation.
  • Prof. Gary Ford, Chair AHSN Network; Chief Executive Officer, Oxford AHSN; Consultant Physician, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
