The AHSN Network in partnership with South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) and Kings College London (KCL) invite you to the FREED Shared Learning Conference. FREED is an early intervention service for eating disorders for people aged 16-25 with less than 3 years duration of illness.

Headline speakers

  • Professor Eric van Furth, Director, Rivierduinen Eating Disorders Ursula, and Professor of Eating Disorders, Department of Psychiatry, Leiden University Medical Centre.
  • Professor Max Birchwood, Professor of Youth Mental Health, University of Warwick, UK. Pioneer of the concept and practice of early intervention in psychosis in the UK and internationally and opened the UK's first Early Intervention in Psychosis service in 1994.
  • Professor Ulrike Schmidt and Danielle Glennon, the founders of FREED.
  • The AHSN Network; Laura Semple, Jill Owens, Eddie Alder.
  • FREED Services.

Who should attend?

The event is open for registration to FREED Champions and eating disorder services, AHSN FREED Leads, as well as stakeholders with an interest in eating disorders, The Health Foundation, early intervention and young people’s mental health e.g. eating disorder service teams, experts by experience, NHS Trusts, ICBs, Local Authorities, GPs, Voluntary organisations / Third Sector, University student mental health teams, Academic organisations, Health Education England, AHSNs, NHSEI, and other relevant stakeholders.

How will I join the event?

This is a hybrid event. You can choose your ticket for in person attendance or online attendance. Please note in person attendance tickets are strictly limited, so please register early. If demand exceeds capacity you can register for online attendance and email ciara.martin7@nhs.net to join a waiting list for any tickets which become available.

  • In person attendance will be at BMA House, 1 Tavistock Square, London, WC1H 9JP. Nearest tube/train: Euston (5 min walk), St Pancras International (10 min walk), and Eurostar (10 min walk).
  • Online attendance will be via Microsoft Teams. Link to be sent following registration.

Event timings will be 9.30am to 4.00pm with breaks. Lunch and refreshments will be provided and there will be posters to peruse (posters will be made available to online attendees in digital format)
