Join us to understand the skills challenges facing employers, as we transition to a low-carbon economy.

Covering key green technology themes including hydrogen production and storage, carbon capture, fuel cells, nuclear power and more. This event will provide an open and supportive environment to share and discuss contemporary practice and challenges around employers skills needs for a low carbon future.

We’ll be asking senior people what green skills actually means for your business. Employers will hear first-hand from leading figures in the green and skills sectors, using evidence informed examples to help drive the conversation with plenty of opportunities to learn, explore, and be inspired.

11 October - Hydrogen & Carbon Capture 10.00am - 1.00pm

12 October - Fuel Cells & Batteries 10.00am - 1.00pm

13 October - Transitioning Industries 10.00am - 1.00pm

Each day will consist of:

  • Welcome and introductions by an industry chair highlighting the purpose and key questions; problem statement around the subject
  • An industry case study sharing best practice and with a Q&A session
  • An open round table discussion and debate on key concerns/ challenges/ barriers/ policy issues
  • An open round table discussion on current understanding of specific skills needed, where they will come from, what timescale are we working to
  • A summary of the days findings and next steps.

Practical discussion guide and key employer questions

  • What do green skills mean for workplace L&D - and how can we prepare for change?
  • New jobs or ‘greening’ of current jobs?
  • Which skills are most in-demand?
  • How confident are we that the demand can be met?
  • Biggest barriers to securing the skills needed?
  • What support is available now and what is needed at a skills policy level?

This event is ideally suited for anyone with an interest in workplace skills provision including HR, L&D and senior leaders across the science industries.
