3-Day SHARPS (Supporting Holistic Approaches - Risk, Parents and Self-Harm)

The training objectives are to:

• Gain a wider knowledge, awareness and understanding of self-harm behaviours in young people.

• Understand the basic approaches for professionals communicating with families where the young person is self-harming

• Provide practical strategies for professionals in managing the emotional demand of working with young people who are harming themselves.

• Feel more competent/confident when working with young people who self-harm

The content of the training is based upon the work and evidence of the widely-respected FLASH parent programme, designed for parents of a young person who is exhibiting self-harming behaviour and whose behaviour is having an impact on the whole family.

The training is suitable for all healthcare professionals who consult with patients, those working in schools, social care, mental health facilities and community settings

Time: 09.00 coffee, 09.15 start – 16.30 finish
