About this event

The North West Civil Service Local Diversity and Inclusion network proudly present – Allyship – What does it mean?, the importance of Allyship and how you can become an Ally.

Allyship is a key component to the gateway of exposing the power of Diversity & Inclusion. It is a continual investment to supporting others as well as being accountable.

Our learning, growth and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, will not happen without being challenged.

This event includes speakers from across the Civil Service who will share personal journeys and commitment to pushing the boundaries for inclusivity.

Remember; Diversity is having a seat at the table, inclusion is having a voice and belonging is having that voice heard.

Session 5: Jane Culkin - Autism Advocates (HMRC)

My name is Jane Culkin and I currently work as a talent lead in HMRC. Well that’s the day job, I also lead a project that aims to make HMRC an exemplar employer in terms of neurodivergence with a focus on autism. I am an ally of autistic people, my work highlights sensory barriers that people who have hypersensitivity experience, I share knowledge of autism and promote autism awareness to everyone I meet. I also lead a national group of autism advocates who have an awareness strategy, run autism cafes and are passionate about talking about autism. We have all signed up to improve HMRC by making it a place where autistic people and those who care for autistic people can bring their whole selves to work. Our ambition is to ensure the entire Civil Service is not only representative of autistic people but removes barriers to work and is an aware and welcoming environment
