Community outreach sessions

Brook works with community groups and organisations in Barnet to embed outreach and drop-in sessions where our teams provide information and advice around HIV awareness and prevention. We also signpost people to appropriate services and distribute resources including educational pamphlets and condoms.

Point of Care Testing

In Barnet, trained professionals also go to community locations to test for HIV where you can get the results within less than 30 minutes. This is known as Point of Care Testing or rapid HIV testing. To complete the test, a sample of saliva or a small spot of blood from a finger is taken. This sample does not need to be sent to a laboratory and the result is available within a few minutes.

Do you own a community space in Barnet?

Help us to continue to fight HIV in the community by lending us a space to carry out Point of Care Testing. If this is something you’d like to support us with, please get in touch by emailing barnet.hiv@brook.org.uk

Volunteer with us

Brook is looking for Barnet residents who would like to volunteer on the team as Community Champions. These individuals will be trained and supported to cascade positive health messages to residents of the Barnet community.

Can’t find what you’re looking for?

We would love to hear from you about how we can support you and your young people. Contact barnet.education@brook.org.uk to talk about Brook’s education and outreach offer.

Brook also offers UK-wide RSE workshops for young people and training for professionals that goes beyond our commissioned offer in Barnet.
