‘There is some really impactful work happening’ – Caroline Clarke

Caroline Clarke, the Regional Director for the NHS in London, said it was great meeting teams and hearing about all the great work they are doing after a visit to Queen’s Hospital on Wednesday 11 October.

Caroline visited A&E, our Discharge Lounge, Frailty Unit, Theatres and Sky B Ward and heard from colleagues about their work to improve patient experience, patient flow through the hospital and reduce waiting times.

During her visit to Theatres, Caroline also heard about the initiatives that are helping patients get the care they need quicker by cutting waiting lists in surgery.

This includes our ENT team (Ear, Nose and Throat) who in September held their second TonKIDZ week when they treated 10 times the usual number of children who need their tonsils removed compared with an average week.

Caroline said: “It was really good to meet many teams across the hospital who are providing great care for residents in north east London.

“There is some really impactful work happening at the Trust to tackle health inequalities which are improving the care and experience patients are receiving.”

Our CEO Matthew Trainer said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Caroline to Queen’s. She heard about the fantastic work we are doing to cut waiting lists in surgery, but also saw the pressure that our teams are working under in emergency care.

“We appreciated the chance to share our plans for improvements at Queen’s and look forward to welcoming Caroline to King George Hospital later this year.”
