Commercial Grain Forwarder

About the Role:

This is a pivotal role based in our Grain Department to organise and take ownership of the administration process which governs the movements of agricultural crops.

One of our main business activities is to move purchased combinable crops from farms by lorry-load either for export into European markets, which are often sent to our export facility at Shoreham Port, or if destined for domestic use, to flour mills or food producers within the UK.

As well as overseeing the administration processes around this activity, and accurate data capture for the commodities you are arranging to be moved, you will be working as a central liaison point between the grain department and our own company haulier, Churchill Freight Services Ltd, third-party hauliers, as well as our customers.

Accurate administration is essential to be able to manage grain contracts and the arising movement changes which happen through the haulage journey, methodical data focused work and excellent communication are all key skills for this position. This is a fast-paced environment where swift amendments and actions enable smooth and profitable operations.

About You:

Degree educated or equivalent working experience within a relevant subjects/working environment including Business Management, Administration, Food and Supply Chain, Agriculture Logistics.

You will need to demonstrate a reasoned thinking style, accuracy with data, numerical competence in what can be a fast-paced department with seasonal peaks.

Confident communicator and able to work with all parties across the business.

Proficient with MS Excel, Microsoft packages, working experience of Microsoft Dynamics 365 would also be advantageous.

Experience gained from working within the agricultural industry,

Knowledge of combinable crops would be an advantage, although not essential as we are looking for someone who is keen to embrace the opportunity.
