Webinar - An urgent call to work together to tackle health inequities

7 April 2021 14:00 – 15:30 CET

World Health Day 2021 will mark health equity and will be the starting point for a year-long equity campaign aiming to bring people together to build a fairer, healthier world. COVID-19 has illuminated and magnified health inequities. Based on current socioeconomic analyses, inequalities are predicted to increase in the future, further threatening health equity and the right to health of all persons. WHD 2021 calls for urgent action to tackle health inequities, with a focus on COVID-19 and building back fairly.

This virtual gala event “An urgent call to work together to tackle health inequities” is organized by WHO and is the ‘launch’ event for WHD 2021. It is part of a series of webinar and capacity building events being convened under the umbrella of World Health Day by different WHO departments and Regional Offices throughout 2021.

The virtual event will be opened by the WHO Director-General, followed by a moderated panel discussion on the topic: How inequities are being magnified in the current COVID-19 context, what is needed to change this, and how we can build back fairly.

Invitation: This event is open to all including representatives of Governments, academia and research institutes, multilateral system partners, and members of international professional organizations, civil society and community groups working on health equity together for a fairer, healthier world.
