I HAD a busy day in Llanelli recently, spending time with the Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) and seeing first-hand the challenges facing them on a day-to-day basis.

I was pleased to be able to catch up with the team at Dyfed-Drug and Alcohol Service (DDAS) and meet with Threshold - an organisation committed to the elimination of violence and abuse.

Work is also progressing at pace on the new custody suite in Llanelli.

Cefais ddiwrnod prysur yn Llanelli yn ddiweddar, yn treulio amser gyda’r Tîm Plismona Bro ac yn gweld â’m llygaid fy hun yr heriau sy’n eu hwynebu o ddydd i ddydd.

Roeddwn yn falch o allu dal i fyny â’r tîm yng Ngwasanaeth Cyffuriau ac Alcohol Dyfed (DDAS) a chwrdd â Threshold – sefydliad sydd wedi ymrwymo i ddileu trais a chamdriniaeth.

Mae gwaith hefyd yn mynd rhagddo'n gyflym ar y ddalfa newydd yn Llanelli.

PCC Dafydd Llywelyn in Aberystwyth

FUNDING of £25,000 has been pledged to improve CCTV coverage in Aberystwyth.

A review of CCTV provision in the town - which I requested following concerns from local people - found that, while current cameras were ‘assisting with the prevention and detection of crime’ improvements could be made.

The review recommended the installation of two new cameras, and that two of the current units be moved to better locations.

CCTV is a powerful tool that can supply crucial evidence in police investigations and help in active investigations and missing people searches.

I want everyone living, working or studying in Aberystwyth to feel safe at all times of the day or night.

Dyfed-Powys Police’s CCTV team is currently working with Ceredigion County Council to finalise a timeline for installation, and it is hoped the cameras will be installed in the new year.

RWYF wedi addo cyllid o £25,000 i wella’r ddarpariaeth teledu cylch cyfyng yn Aberystwyth.

Canfu adolygiad o ddarpariaeth teledu cylch cyfyng yn y dref yn dilyn pryderon gan bobl leol - er bod y camerâu presennol yn ‘cynorthwyo gydag atal a chanfod trosedd’ y gellid gwneud gwelliannau.

Roedd yr adolygiad yn argymell gosod dau gamera newydd, a bod dau o'r unedau presennol yn cael eu symud i leoliadau gwell.

Mae teledu cylch cyfyng yn arf pwerus sy’n gallu darparu tystiolaeth hanfodol mewn ymchwiliadau heddlu a helpu gydag ymchwiliadau gweithredol a chwiliadau pobl sydd ar goll.

Rydw i eisiau i bawb sy’n byw, yn gweithio neu’n astudio yn Aberystwyth deimlo’n ddiogel bob amser o’r dydd neu’r nos.

Mae tîm Teledu Cylch Cyfyng Heddlu Dyfed-Powys ar hyn o bryd yn gweithio gyda Chyngor Sir Ceredigion i gwblhau amserlen ar gyfer gosod, a’r gobaith yw y bydd y camerâu’n cael eu gosod yn y flwyddyn newydd.

“I want to ensure every young person has a voice in the future of policing in Dyfed-Powys” - Dafydd Llywelyn

IN OCTOBER we welcomed new members to our Youth Forum.

A total of 15 young people, aged between 15 and 19, visited Police Headquarters where they met with staff from my office, officers from Dyfed-Powys Police, and got to see behind the scenes in our CCTV suite.

Over the summer months, my office surveyed young people on their views and perception of policing in their area. The results pointed to three priority areas affecting children and young people, which the Youth Forum will focus on over the next 12 months.

The three priorities identified are:

  • Mental Health support for young victims;

  • Substance mis-use prevention activities for young people;

  • Support for young adults who are committing low level offences, to build their confidence and access training and employment

“Rwyf am sicrhau bod gan bob person ifanc lais yn nyfodol plismona yn Nyfed-Powys.

YM MIS HYDREF croesawyd aelodau newydd i'n Fforwm Ieuenctid.

Ymwelodd cyfanswm o 15 o bobl ifanc, rhwng 15 a 19 oed, â Phencadlys yr Heddlu lle cawsant gyfarfod â staff o fy swyddfa, swyddogion o Heddlu Dyfed-Powys, a chael gweld y tu ôl i'r llenni yn ein hystafell TCC.

Dros fisoedd yr haf, cynhaliodd fy swyddfa arolwg o bobl ifanc ynghylch eu barn a’u canfyddiad o blismona yn eu hardal. Roedd y canlyniadau'n cyfeirio at dri maes blaenoriaeth sy'n effeithio ar blant a phobl ifanc, y bydd y Fforwm Ieuenctid yn canolbwyntio arnynt dros y 12 mis nesaf.
