Salary:         Band 6, £31,350 – £38,652, per annum, dependent on experience (Pay Award pending)

Do you want to be part of an innovative, research-informed team, spearheading the development of OT with veterans across the UK?  We have 4 vacancies at our Belfast, Leatherhead and North and Central hubs.

This is your opportunity to specialise in the areas of veterans and trauma. The Occupational Therapy team at Combat Stress has been a finalist in the Healthcare and Rehabilitation Award Category of the Soldiering On awards. We have also secured funding for a 3-year research post to evaluate the effectiveness of the service. We aim to add to the evidence base for the use Occupational Therapy with veterans struggling with complex trauma as a result of their service. We are working collaboratively with international occupational therapists in the veteran mental health field; to stay up to date with the latest evidence and influence occupational therapy input with this unique client group.  We offer great opportunities to Occupational Therapists interested in developing their practice and development.

At Combat Stress we are passionate about ‘What matters to veterans’ and believe that occupational therapy can help to rebuild veteran’s lives. As an Occupational Therapist in the team, you will be responsible for empowering veterans to engage fully in meaningful occupations that matter to them and support their participation in life situations. Interventions are based on enabling veterans to make choices, build resilience and include the use of coping strategies based on sensory interventions. We make use of Occupational Case Formulation to support clinical reasoning and to guide treatments, which are delivered through individual and groupwork interventions. All our interventions are developed to be offered in person or through a virtual platform.

Working at Combat Stress offers you the opportunity to work autonomously within an established occupational therapy framework, with regular supervision. The development of our occupational therapy staff members are a priority and training is offered on a regular basis – including sensory modulation training and trauma-informed approaches.
