The final day of the Royal Ascot 2022 meeting features a whole host of Group and Hertiage Handicap action, with none better that the Group One Platinum Jubilee Stakes over six furlongs.

Andrew Mount casts his eye over the big race and gives us his predictions for Saturday's main action.

Royal Ascot 3.05 (Jersey Stakes, 7f Group 3, 3yos)

Last-time out winners have a poor record, with just one of the 62 qualifiers successful since 2009 (expected winners = 4.85).

In the same 12-year study period, eight winners were dropping back in trip from 1m, three stepped up from 6f and only one (from 97 qualifiers) had prepped over 7f,

Royal Ascot 3.40 (Hardwicke Stakes, 1m4f Group 2, 4yo+)

HURRICANE LANE was trading at odds-on at the time of writing and last year’s narrow Arc third will take some beating if taking this route. His only other defeat from eight starts came in the Derby.

Royal Ascot 4.20 (Platinum Jubilee Stakes, 6f Group 1, 4yo+)

This race has a true international flavour to it with a host of overseas raiders, including GRENADIER GUARDS from Japan. The son of Frankel could be backed at around 25-1 at the time of writing.

KINROSS was only third in the 7f Group 3 John Of Gaunt Stakes at Haydock last time, a race he’d won 12 months earlier, but had excuses. There was a strong rail bias that day, favouring low-drawn prominent racers and he had to come late and wide from stall 6 of 8. He still needs to prove his effectiveness as a sprinter but could sneak into the frame at a big price.

DOUBLE OR BUBBLE’s patient running style will be an asset and she could go well for the Chris Wall yard.

Royal Ascot 5.00 (Wokingham Stakes, 6f Heritage Handicap)

The cut back to 6f has been the making of SILVER SAMURAI this season and he took his full record at the trip to 13311 (3-5) when storming through late on the slowest part of the track to overhaul MUSIC SOCIETY (winner since) at Haydock last time. This looks the perfect set up for him.

MR WAGYU landed the NAP (12-1) on Derby Day at Epsom, taking his record in June or July to 14 wins from 27 starts for a profit of £66.35. He’s 0-35 outside of that period and holds each-way claims again.

CHIEFOFCHIEFS is sure to be putting in good late work and is another to consider, along with the ultra-consistent ADAAY TO REMEMBER, who has won or placed in all seven career starts.
