‘Creative Commons licences’ are increasingly mentioned within the context of cultural heritage organisations. Funders like the National Heritage Lottery Fund have a requirement that any funded materials are made freely available to the public under an open licence such as the CC BY 4.0 licence. So, what are Creative Commons Licences and why are they important?
