About this app

The NHS App gives you a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet.

You can use the app if you are aged 13 or over. You must be registered with an NHS GP surgery in England or the Isle of Man.

You can also log in through the NHS website on a computer to use NHS App services.

Access NHS services
----------------------
Use the NHS App to access your NHS services, anytime and anywhere. You can request repeat prescriptions, use 111 online, find nearby NHS services and more.

Depending on your GP surgery, you may also be able to book appointments and contact your surgery about a health problem.

Manage your health
--------------------
The NHS App gives you a convenient way to view your GP health record, including your test results.

You can manage your upcoming appointments and prescription requests. You can also make choices about your health, like your organ donation decision.

Receive messages
-------------------
You can get important messages from your GP surgery and other NHS services through the app. Turning on notifications can alert you to new messages.

Manage services for other people
---------------------------------
You can switch profiles to access services for other people in the NHS App, such as a child or family member. Your GP surgery needs to give you access and you must both share the same surgery.

Log in securely
---------------
The NHS App will guide you through setting up an NHS login if you do not have one already. You will be asked to prove who you are. The app will then securely connect to information from your NHS services.

If your iPhone or iPad supports Touch ID or Face ID, you can use it to log in, every time you use the app.

It's *almost* great, it's good to be able to order repeat scripts and see when they've been approved and sent, although it would only be logical to receive some sort of notification at these, for most, quite important moments. I also can't figure out why the backend at pharmacy can't notify when it's ready for collection. Of course, Matthew Gould went on record saying that it's good as it is, it's now up to others to develop on top of it. Wrong, NHSX should always be striving to improve.

Thank you for your review. You may not be able to order some prescription items for several reasons. Find out more about repeat prescriptions, https://nhs-digital.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360019562537-I-can-t-order-my-repeat-prescription-

The booking appointment button seems to be buried behind "past and current" which makes no sense as if I don't have an appointment yet, I have no logical reason to go to that page. Also, it seems my doctors never have appointments listed, even searching 16 weeks ahead. Is this app not suitably promoted to surgeries to adopt it and update their diaries? Makes it kinda pointless for getting new support. Repeat prescription ordering feature is good though. (would rate higher if UX was improved)

The NHS App acts as a mirror to your GP Clinical System. For any access you require in the NHS App you will need to speak to your GP Practice to ensure they have granted you the relevant permissions. If your GP are unaware of how to change their system settings, they will need to refer to their system supplier. The NHS App team cannot advise.

App OK. Could really use the function to be able to add appointments to your personal calendar in the same way that the 'patient access' app allows. ---- Updated: thank you for your response. I HAVE suggested how to improve the app in my review. I have also emailed it to you... Update 2 -good to see calendar integration being considered. May help reduce missed appointments.
