About this app

It can be extremely stressful when your child is unwell. We know that there is a huge amount of information available at your fingertips, but finding something that provides clear and accurate information is not always easy!

The resources on the Healthier Together have been developed in partnership between parents and NHS healthcare professionals. You'll find clear information on common childhood illnesses, including advice on what 'red-flag' signs to look out for, where to seek help if required, what you should do to keep your child comfortable and how long your child's symptoms are likely to last.

Most importantly, the resources are used not only by parents but also by healthcare professionals. This means that your child is likely to receive consistently high-quality care, irrespective of which healthcare provider you take them to see. And their advice is likely to mirror that on Healthier Together. Reducing unnecessary variation improves the overall quality of care and reduces the parental anxiety that inconsistent advice generates

The NHS Healthier Together app has been designed to allow you to access care for your child much more easily. If your child is unwell and needs to be seen by a healthcare professional, instead of having to call your GP surgery, you will be able to use the app to directly inform your GP about your child’s symptoms. Your GP practice will then contact you to decide what needs to be done. And if you are seeking help when your GP surgery is shut, it will direct you to NHS 111. Lots of other parents have already downloaded it and have found it extremely useful.

Wanted to like it. Should be part of the main NHS app. Onboarding doesn't have a next button, skip button is where it should be. Tried to add a profile for myself, was only told I'm too old after filling in whole form. EDIT in response: I left comments so the UX can be improved, not so I can be told what I already worked out for myself.

Thank you for your feedback and sorry for the inconvenience. The clinical content to support additional age groups is in the process of being developed and will be available soon. Currently the app provides support for children from birth up to 18 years of age and pregnant women (in specific regions).

No user testing on android. To enter a date of birth, it thows up a calendar with today's date. There is no way to adjust the year or month by typing, it will only accept backwards and forwards one month at a time. For a 14 year-old child that means, just to enter their date of birth takes 176 taps. Just imagine in all that tapping frenzy if you hit the back button with your knuckle and had to start all over again. My life is too short for apps that are not even basic tested.

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry for the inconvenience. The app has been extensively tested with both service users and patients prior to its release. The date of birth field uses a standard Android component and the year as displayed on the top can be changed by simply clicking on it. This allows quick selection of any date.

I have been using this app very well before until biometrics is required. my phone fingerprint is faulty, and now I can't access the app. I should have other options rather than forcing fingerprints.
