PDSCP - Communicating with children where there are concerns that they may have been sexually abused

Please note, this training is face to face.

Outline

This course will look at the concerns that practitioners have in addressing child sexual abuse. As practitioners, we need to be able to talk and communicate with children about the possibility that sexual abuse is taking place and we also need to talk about how we feel in undertaking this work.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The trainers advise that this course should be booked in conjunction with the 'Practitioners Well Being and Working with Sexual Abuse' course which is in the afternoon.

NON-ATTENDANCE AND CANCELLATIONS RECEIVED LESS THAN 28 DAYS PRIOR TO THE COURSE DATE WILL INCUR THE FULL COURSE FEE. Please read our cancellation policy for further information and before making any bookings www.dorsetnexus.org.uk/Services/2878

Description

This is an interactive course, encouraging practitioners to be more creative in how they communicate with children, seeing all interactions with children as a means through which a child/young person develops trust and rapport, which makes it more likely that they could disclose if something untoward is happening to them.

The PDSCP is committed to culturally competent safeguarding practice. We include the importance of cultural competence within our course content and explore what this means for practitioners. A few days after the course, Nexus will email a short feedback survey, once this is complete it will take you to a page where you can download your certificate. Please look out for the Nexus email as it can sometimes arrive in your junk/spam filter.
