PDSCP - Working with non-abusing parents and carers where there have been concerns about CSA

Outline
This course will look at all aspects of trauma experienced by the non-abusing partner, including building on the grooming process, how this impacts and why some partners may choose to stay with the offender. This course will address various aspects of denial, encouraging practitioners to look at this issue from a different perspective.

Description
This course will look at the following:
How an adult survivor of child sexual abuse may parent, if their own trauma remains unresolved. How the non-abusing parent may react if a disclosure is made about their partner. Different types of sexual abuse, including online exploitation and how parents can address this ever-increasing concern.
This course will also address various issues identified within the Capacity and Ability to Supervise and Protect Risk Framework, McGibbon and Leonard, 2019.
The PDSCP is committed to culturally competent safeguarding practice. We include the importance of cultural competence within our course content and explore what this means for practitioners. Audience
Social Workers, Family Support Workers, Police and any multidisciplinary workers that may work with child sexual abuse. PLEASE NOTE: this training is not suitable for trainee social workers.
