PDSCP - Update - Multi-Agency Working Together in Safeguarding
This replaces the old LSCB Level 3 Safeguarding Children Update course. ** This training is for professionals only **
Outline
This half-day training is being delivered virtually via Zoom.
The course aims to further develop working relationships to ensure that Pan-Dorset children and young people are safe, protected from harm and have access to the right help at the right time. It will enable participants to work together to identify, access and meet the needs of children and young people where there are safeguarding concerns.

The PDSCP recommends that DSLs and DDSLs in all settings update their Multi-Agency Working Together in Safeguarding training every two years. For other staff this should be updated every three years. Description
This half-day course will bring participants up to date with changes in law, policy and procedures, locally and nationally. There is also an opportunity to work together on current safeguarding concerns to ensure that the best possible outcome is achieved for children and young people by agencies working effectively together. The course is underpinned by the latest government statutory guidance. Outcomes
The training will meet the continuing developmental needs of multi-agency practitioners working with children, young people and/or their parents/carers who could potentially contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and evaluating the needs of a child or young person, and parenting capacity, where there are safeguarding and/or child protection concerns.

Please ensure that you are familiar with 'The Pan Dorset Continuum of Needs' guidance as it will be referred to throughout the course. Please note 'The Pan Dorset Continuum of Needs', has replaced the two Threshold Documents (one for Dorset and one for BCP) and now covers the whole of Dorset.
The PDSCP is committed to culturally competent safeguarding practice. We include the importance of cultural competence within our course content and explore what this means for practitioners. By the end of the half-day course participants will:
- Be aware of updated policies, procedures and practice in line with any changes in national legislation and guidance
- Have knowledge of the Pan-Dorset SCP safeguarding priorities
- Be aware of lessons learned from recent Serious Case Reviews, Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews and Audits
- Have the opportunity to share good practice and work through safeguarding issues in the multi-agency arena
- Reflect upon their own organisation’s safeguarding system to ensure that effective arrangements are in place to ensure a positive impact on the safety and welfare of children.
