PDSCP - Multi-Agency Working Together in Safeguarding

This replaces the old LSCB Level 3 Safeguarding Children Initial course. ** This training is for professionals only **

Outline

This one-day multi-agency course is being delivered virtually via Zoom and will equip practitioners to address safeguarding concerns in their work with children and young people.

If you have completed a Level 3 safeguarding course in the past you might find the Working Together in Safeguarding UPDATE course more suitable. Please talk to your line manager if you are in any doubt, to make sure you are booking onto the correct course.

Description

The aim of this course is to provide a clear understanding of working together in safeguarding from a multi-agency perspective. The course is underpinned by the latest government statutory guidance and seeks to provide you with the knowledge in safeguarding, so you have the confidence to safeguard children and work effectively with partners. The course also builds upon the Pan-Dorset Safeguarding Partnership aim to develop excellence in the way it carries out its business, leading to a clearer strategy, more participation and better decision making.

Outcomes

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Understand the child protection processes from the perspectives of the child and the family and how it impacts on them
  • Describe what to do when there are concerns about a child’s welfare in complex and challenging situations
  • Gain an awareness of the continuum of need threshold document and escalation process
  • Increase confidence in own roles and responsibilities in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Describe good information sharing practice and issues of consent
  • Explain the importance of appropriate communication with children, families and professionals

PRE-COURSE INFORMATION:

You will have covered the areas listed below from Level 2 training you have accessed in your own organisation or through multi-agency training and you will have a basic knowledge of safeguarding issues, covering as a minimum:

  • Indicators of different types of abuse and neglect
  • Responding to and recording disclosures
  • What the MASH/ChADs is and basic understanding of the referral process
  • Safer working practice

Please ensure that you are familiar with 'The Pan Dorset Continuum of Needs' guidance as it will be referred to throughout the course.
