This course addresses the issue of secondary or vicarious trauma and how this impacts on practitioners.

Description
This course will enable participants to have a greater understanding of how to reflect on their own practice in relation to child sexual abuse and look after their own wellbeing.
The PDSCP is committed to culturally competent safeguarding practice. We include the importance of cultural competence within our course content and explore what this means for practitioners. Outcomes
By the end of the course participants will:
Be aware of the psychological and emotional impact of working with children who have been sexually abused. Be aware of the impact of their own personal experiences on working with child sexual abuse. Be able to identify and address any personal or professional barriers to working with families and children where there are concerns about intra-familial sexual abuse.

Audience
Social Workers, Family Support Workers, Police and any multidisciplinary workers that may work with child sexual abuse. PLEASE NOTE: this training is not suitable for trainee social workers.
