Last month was yet again, a busy one for me with several key activities taking place throughout the month. It was an honour for me to be invited by the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners and National Police Chiefs Council to their annual Summit in London to give a talk on the innovative approach we took last year to fund community safety projects through our Participatory Budgeting initiative.
The process is a participatory democracy in which local people decide how to allocate part of a public budget, and last year I committed £140,000 to the initiative in Dyfed-Powys, with 111 community groups across Dyfed-Powys benefitting from the funding. During November, I had an opportunity to visit community groups in Haverfordwest who received funding through this initiative, which you can read about here:
What is clear through the feedback that I am getting is that there is evidence that we are building better networks and connections across the Force area in order to build healthier and safer communities. It was a privilege to share the success of the initiative in the Summit in London with colleagues from across England and Wales.
In looking ahead to December, and the festive season, which is always a busy period for everyone, there are lots of key milestones. Non-more significant than publishing my new Police and Crime Plan which sets out the priorities for Dyfed-Powys Police for 2021 to 2025. I encourage you to keep an eye out for its announcement later on this month on our social channels and website, and please do get in touch with my Office if you have any questions.
Thanks for reading the bulletin, and please free to share wider with colleagues and friends.
Diolch - Thank you,
Dafydd Llywelyn
Police and Crime Commissioner
