Free sessions on starting school at your local family hub
Is your child due to start school in September 2021? Are you concerned that they may not be ready?

'Starting School Together' is a course of six sessions that support a child’s school readiness skills. It's aimed at preparing children for a ‘flying start’ in Reception and will be run in the family hubs across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
During these sessions we will offer lots of individualised support and ideas for you and your child to practice all the skills they will need at school. We will also offer fun play activities for you and your child to practice at home.

Sessions will take place from 26 July until 30 August.

If you feel that this group may benefit you or your child then please email a few details us via the link below. Please also read our Privacy Notice which explains how we use your personal information to provide our services.

SEND Services - tell us how we can improve

BCP Council is committed to improving services for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

We want to hear about your experiences at SEND Support level or support through an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). This could be in school/college or in the community.

With the help of Parent Carers Together, local health organisations and other partners, we have put together two surveys, one for parents and carers and one for children and young people.

Your views are really important to us and we will use your feedback to help shape our education, health and care services in the future. Both surveys are completely anonymous and close at midday on Friday 23 July 2021

Did you know childminders care for school age children?
As well as providing care and early education for babies and pre-school age children, childminders are able to care for school age children before and after school, including school pick up and drop offs. This is ideal if you want continuity of care when your child starts school or if you have children of various ages!
Find out more about childminders and childminder vacancies in the links below.

If you need help finding suitable childcare, please contact the Family Information Service on: 01202 093131 or email: familyinformation@bcpcouncil.gov.uk

Young People's SEND Charter

We've been out and about speaking to young people with SEND about how they would like to work with BCP Council to make things better for local children, young people and their families.

By drawing pictures with lots of different groups, they came up with a list of what was important to them and their priorities for what needs to be done.

Young people presented their work to senior leaders at the SEND Improvement Board and as a result, their charter is being finalised and will be adopted.

Please view the draft charter below and if you have any comments or feedback, please do get in touch.
