A Race Equality Report Card on the Birmingham Commonwealth Games progress on race equality since the cross-community protest letter of July 2020 is now underway.

BRIG have initiated the Birmingham Race Equality Manifesto (BREM) for the forthcoming Birmingham City Council Local Elections on 5th May 2022.

We want to "Pass the baton" to our next generation - giving the youth the skills and knowledge to fight racism today by raising awareness of the "Hidden Heroes" of the movement in our region, and mobilising for a youth summit in 2022. Can you help us?

Preparations for the BRIG Youth Summit have begun

Speaking of supporting the next generation, last week we ran our first Focus Group with young people in Birmingham to discuss & shape Birmingham's first Bi-annual Race Youth Summit. There were plenty of powerful discussions about topics such as Police Brutality and Education in School.

A new regional Race Equalities Taskforce is being set up by the West Midlands Combined Authority

The Taskforce will be led by an independent Chair – Yetunde Dania, who is Partner and Birmingham Head of Office at international law firm Trowers & Hamlins.
