SAS Research

SAS doctors are directly involved in patient care which enables you to see at first hand clinical themes and potential research gaps. As permanent members of staff you can conduct and oversee research projects from start to finish and you can apply research findings in your clinical setting to improve patient outcomes.

In your NHS Trust, consider approaching the Research and Development (R&D) team to understand more about the research that is taking place at a local level. Build a picture of the opportunities available through the Health Research Authority (HRA) or through the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). The Associate Principal Investigator (PI) Scheme is open to SAS doctors and the Royal College of Physicians through their research and innovation hub you can learn more about research design and statistical skills for clinicians.
