    Situation

Every year at least 25,000 people are admitted to a UK Major Trauma Centre with life-changing injuries. That’s 68 people EVERY DAY. The ripple effect of trauma is extensive and impacts on every aspect of life, with unimaginable consequences that can last a lifetime. Financial uncertainty in the aftermath of major traumatic injury can delay and distract from recovery. People tell us that money worries add extra strain when they have more important things to focus on.

    Solution

Day One exists to address the inequity between those who have financial stability and those who don’t. Our small grants to people in crisis help to shoulder the burden of an unexpected hospital stay. We aim to help people within 48 hours. This means families can be nearby in the immediate aftermath of a traumatic incident, or clothes can be purchased after they were damaged in an accident. Our financial support goes beyond what the NHS can provide to aid recovery and rehabilitation.
