Ekiti: Police nab another 15 suspected armed robbers

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested another 15 suspected criminals in Atikankan, Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Moronkeji Adesina, said the suspects were arrested when policemen from the command clamped down on a group of hoodlums in their hideout on July 13.

He said, “The suspects confessed to be members of an armed robbery gang, illicit drug dealers and a cult group.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, in a statement, listed the suspected armed robbers as: Musa Madaki, 35 years old, Abdullahi Umar, 25, years old, Shola Adeyemi, 43, Hawalu Ali, 45, Usman Amisu, 30, Haruna Usman, 20, Yanusa Abubakar , 25, Usman Lawal, 20, Ajayi Opeyemi, 20, Taheeb Isa, 21, Ajiboye Michael, 19, Kayode Yinka, 20 years old , Taiwo Michael 20 , Jimoh Zarheal, 19 years old and David Henry 36 years old.

Abutu further stated, “The items recovered from the suspects were two locally made single barrel guns, two battle axes, two locally made pistols, and some wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.”

The operation was said to have been carried out by the Operative of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) with the aim of ridding Ekiti State of criminal activities.

The police spokesman added that “the suspects shall be arraigned accordingly as soon as investigations are concluded.”
