We use ransom to buy cattle – Kidnap suspects arrested in Ekiti

Two suspected kidnappers arrested in Ekiti State have confessed to using shares of their ransom to purchase a herd of cattle.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abutu Sunday, disclosed this in a statement, adding that the notorious kidnap kingpins were known for kidnapping and abducting innocent citizens of the state.

“After a long drawn moves, the long arms of the law have finally caught up with two kidnap kingpins. One is Alhaji Abashe Adamu Idris and the other is Ibrahim Mumini Toyin, who were arrested in Ido-Ekiti on 29/06/2022. The two people had coordinated numerous kidnappings in the state,” the statement read.

Abutu further explained that the police Rapid Response Squad was aided by vigilantes in its efforts to arrest the suspects.

It further stated that Ibrahim Mumini Toyin confessed to the crime of kidnapping and killing some of his victims.

The suspects further stated that Alhaji Abashe Adamu Idris is their ringleader adding that the ransom collected from their victims was used to purchase cattle through his help.

The Police, however, informed that the suspects are now in custody undergoing interrogation and will be arraigned after the conclusion of the investigation.
